TD-Ameritrade is TD-Ameri-suck
Friday, the web industry’s second largest online broker and trading firm, TD Ameritrade, reported a security breach in its server. What was stolen? TD Ameritrade claims basic contact information, including demographics as well as e-mail addresses were hacked away from their “secure” servers. A.K.A- prepare for more SPAM mail thanks to the wonderful twits at TD Ameritrade!
After a little bit of research, you might be a little annoyed to find out how this problem came to be. “The data on Ameritrade’s servers may have been vulnerable for an extended period of time dating back at least to last October, according to the lawsuit filed by lawyer Scott A. Kamber. The company said Friday the problem had recently been fixed.” Last October?! Are they kidding me?! Shit, I think I might as well flush my money down the toliet; this way every now and then when it backs up, I feel like I’m getting something back!

In the past, Ameritrade has faced lawsuits due to users complaining about un-wanted emails through Ameritrade accounts. Not only have they been ordered to publically address this matter, they were also summoned to fix it! Now, I understand common sense might not flow freely through the minds of many, but when your holding my money, it better flow like the Nile. If your servers, which hold my information is vulnerable, then you better as hell fix it.
While those innocent executive employees managed to escape unscathed from this breach, they are unsure whether their more “common investors” were entirely safe. ” ‘While the financial assets our clients hold with us were never touched, and there is no evidence that our clients’ Social Security Numbers were taken, we understand that this issue has increased unwanted SPAM, which is annoying and inconvenient for them,” Chief Executive Joe Moglia said in a statement. “We sincerely apologize for that and any added concern this may have caused.’ ”
^Thanks, now I can sleep at night, don’t worry about the hundreds of email’s I’ll now have to sift through just because your too incompetent to learn how to securely withhold information. I could just imagine you running freely through the streets of major cities, skipping along as you flail my security information aimlessly.
So to you readers out there, besides the normal spam mail which has sexual enhancement headlines (which could actually be enjoyed from time to time), you will now face thousands of unwanted emails that will tell you that someone is getting rich but it sure as hell isn’t you.
