Your Car is Next

When a major company releases a car that is sold to the masses, and bought in the masses, you would figure it would have most of the major bugs and kinks worked out (including things that could severely threaten the safety and security of passengers inside the car and of others around them). The fine folks at Honda and Chrysler apparently have different believes on the subject.

If you bring your car in for scheduled maintenance, and they inform you that better software for the computers are available or a faulty air filter should be replaced, it usually doesn’t strike you as a something that bad and your faith in the company really doesn’t change much…What if they told you that your brakes might not work on an uphill incline, or your wheel could potentially fall off the car while driving…how would you react?

Friday, Chrysler (ho-ho those lovely geniuses at Chrysler) were at it again by publically announcing that they would recall nearly 300,000 sport utility vehicles to combat potential braking problems while driving uphill. In a separate move, Honda Motor’s said it would also be recalling more than 180,000 Civics from the 2006-2007 models to fix a wheel-bearing seal that could leak and lead to a wheel falling off the car…

What the hell is this bullshit? So all this time, I was driving in a car that could potentially roll down a hill (keep in mind it would be backwards) and I could not break….next they would tell me the horn on the steering wheel wouldn’t work either. Also, the informative people at Honda smacked me in the face with this whole situation that a wheel that could potentially fall off while I was driving. That really makes me feel so comfortable about investing my $20,000 hard earned dollars in these corporate giants.

I’m not sure about some people, but for the most part, I think the general public has the same following opinion: Are you freaking nuts?!

When a company releases a recall, the only thing that comes to mind is what dumb pigs are you hiring and what do you consider to be safety? (Honda and Chrysler Employee’s: “Well, one wheel fell off, but shit he’s got 3 more!)

A company should have all these cars tested FULLY before releasing the car to the public to avoid this recall bullshit and make me take the risk of sitting in another one of your cars (because I definitely feel more then comfortable getting in another one now)

Look at Toyota, the top selling car company globally. Why is this? Why do Honda corporate monkey’s and Chrysler executives sit at their big desks late and night and wonder how they surpass them every year in sales? It’s because they still haven’t figured out the proper way to make a quality product and test it fully before they market it. The general public understands that all cars cannot be perfect, but when you say “…yea your car’s wheel could fall off at anytime…” it really makes you look like a big group of idiots.

Bottom Line: It’s not rocket science, make a better product and you will sell more of it. Half-ass it and pull crap like this and you might as well call yourself the next “Jaguar”

If you look into it, all companies have recalls. Chrysler, Honda, Ford, TOYOTA, GM, Mercedes, BMW, Hyundai, and all the rest of them. They all have recalls. Cars are not made like they used to be. Its the same no matter who you buy from. The Toyota Camry has had 50 recalls since it came out. You can’t judge a car by how many recalls it has. The company made a mistake, and they are trying to make the car better and safer by performing the recalls. Thats how I look at it.
